THIS YEAR, SUMMER SLICE-A-THON MADE A SPLASH
WHAT IS IT?
You (a home pizza-maker/hobbyist) sign up to host a pizza party or pop-up to raise funds for our Pie it Forward project. We’ll use the funds that you raise to support shelters and soup kitchens in your region. This year, participating home chefs were able to raise $25k in total; that’s a lot of dough!
HOW DOES THE FUNDRAISING WORK?
Each summer, you can register to host a pizza party or pop-up & we’ll email you a QR code to display at the event. This QR code will lead your guests to a crowdfunding page for your pizza party. Your guests can submit a donation in the size of their choice or you can opt to donate a portion of the proceeds that you make at your pop-up using the same QR code.
WHEN IS SUMMER SLICE-A-THON?
Registration opens right after Memorial Day Weekend. Then, you can host a pizza party or pop-up anytime this summer, between July 1 and September 30.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN A PARTICULAR LOCATION TO HOST A PIZZA PARTY?
Nope! You can do #pizza4good anywhere you want. It can happen in a parking lot, at your office, in your backyard, a local park or brewery, or even in your apartment building. We’ll be posting a map of registered pizza parties so you can see all the communities that are participating.
IS THERE A WAY FOR BRICK & MORTAR RESTAURANTS TO GET INVOLVED?
You can invite home pizza-makers in your your area to host a pop-up at your restaurant to benefit Slice Out Hunger. It’s a fantastic way for you to support pizzaioli of all stripes in your community.
ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS TO PARTICIPATING BESIDES SUPPORTING MY COMMUNITY?

MOST DOUGH
The individual pizza-maker who raises the most money through their pizza party by 9/30 will have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one pizza consultation with one of these three incredible world-renowned pizzaioli via Zoom.

MOST PIZZAGRAM-WORTHY
The individual pizza-maker who has the highest engagement on a post about Summer Slice-a-Thon by 9/30 will receive a copy of Modernist’s incredible 3 volume book set, Modernist Pizza. To be eligible, you must:
Host your pizza party
Engagement will be calculated based on the combined number of likes & comments on a post

BIGGEST BASH
The individual pizza-maker who hosts the biggest Summer Slice-a-Thon party by 9/30 will receive a 45 minute virtual Wine & Pizza pairing experience with Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s Director of Winemaking, Andrea Card. In addition to the one-on-one Zoom session, the package includes a $100 winery gift card, a set of wine glasses, and wine key to get you set for your personalized tasting experience. To be eligible, you must:
Host your pizza party
Have party guests donate through the QR code/donation link provided
Biggest bash will be calculated based on the most individual donors at the party
Be at least 21 years of age
