HOW DOES IT WORK?
You (a home pizza-maker/hobbyist) sign up to host a pizza party or pop-up to raise funds for our Pie it Forward project. We’ll use the funds that you raise to send pizza to shelters and soup kitchens across the US.
HOW DOES THE FUNDRAISING WORK?
When you host your pizza party or pop-up, we’ll email you a QR code to display at the event. This QR code will go to a crowdfunding page that’s linked to your pizza party or the page for your team you signed up with. Your guests can submit a donation in the size of their choice or you can opt to donate a portion of the proceeds that you make at your pop-up using the same QR code.
WHEN IS IT RUNNING?
You can host a pizza party or pop-up anytime between July 1 - September 30.
SHOULD I JOIN A VIRTUAL TEAM WHEN I SIGN UP?
It’s not required, but we do recommend it! Our team leads are all experienced home pizza-makers like yourself and this is a great way to connect as a community and provide mutual support.
Some of the virtual teams are geographically-based, others based around identity or pizza style. All teams are open to anyone; pick the one that speaks to you most or select to go at it alone when you sign up.
If you decide to join a virtual team, your team lead will be your main point of contact for all of of your Summer Slice-a-thon questions and ideas. We’ll pass along your contact info to the team lead so they can keep you looped in on everything going on with the team and collaborate on getting the #pizza4good that you’re doing on social. Plus you’ll be in the running for some of our fantastic team prizes.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN A PARTICULAR LOCATION TO HOST A PIZZA PARTY?
No way! You can do #pizza4good anywhere across the U.S. Stay tuned; we’ll be posting a map of all of the communities that have home pizza-makers participating.
IS THERE A WAY FOR BRICK & MORTAR RESTAURANTS TO GET INVOLVED?
You can chat with any home pizza-makers in your your neighborhood about the project and offer them the opportunity to host a pop-up out of your restaurant that will benefit Slice Out Hunger. It’s a fantastic way for you to support pizzaioli of all stripes in your community.
WE’LL ALSO BE GIVING AWAY SOME GREAT PRIZES TO PARTICIPATING HOME PIZZA-MAKERS AND THEIR PARTY GUESTS!
