Pi Day marks our 4th year of sending pizza to hunger relief orgs through our Pie it Forward program. This year, in recognition of International Women’s Day, 100% of the funds raised will buy pizza for women’s shelters, LGBTQIA+ shelters, & shelters for survivors of domestic violence.

HOW IT WORKS
MAKE A DONATION
Your tax deductible contribution will be used to fund pizza deliveries to shelters and soup kitchens around the U.S. You can even identify the region you’d like your dollars to feed to keep your donation local.
WE IDENTIFY THE NEED
We work with a network of hundreds of hunger relief organizations across country to deliver pizza to people experiencing food insecurity.
SLICE MATCHES WITH A LOCAL PIZZERIA
Our partners at Slice find a nearby pizzeria and ensure that they can accommodate the care center’s needs. We then place the order using donations we’ve collected. All additional fees have been waived for orders placed through Slice.
The Pie It Forward project is done in collaboration with Slice.
OUR PROGRESS
Our Pie it Forward program launched on Pi Day in 2022. During the first two years of the program, we:
Delivered 6,500 pizzas
Made over 200 pizza deliveries to hunger relief organizations
Feeding 17k+ individuals experiencing food insecurity

Do you operate or are you connected to a shelter, soup kitchen, senior center, food bank, or any other hunger relief organization that could use some pizza love?
Fill out this form if you operate or are connected to a shelter, soup kitchen, senior center, food bank, or any other hunger relief organization and would like to receive a pizza delivery. One of our volunteers will call to verify your request.
With our current level of funding, we’re typically able to fulfil one request per organization once every 9-12 months. If you’ve received pizza from us previously, but it’s been a while, feel free to fill out the request form again!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who does this benefit? The pizzas will be sent to shelters who serve women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, & survivors of domestic violence that are in real need during this difficult time. An analysis conducted by Feeding America estimates that in 2023, 50 million people (15.9% of the total US population) rely on food assistance to feed themselves & their families. Additionally, since these pizza orders will be funded by your donations, we’ll also provide much needed revenue to the small businesses serving food to their local communities nationwide.
Does a donor need to cover the full price of a pizza? No. We take donations of any size. Your donation will be pooled with everyone else’s and used to order whatever amount of food is necessary.
Does Slice Out Hunger take out a percentage to cover overhead? Nope! 100% of our admin costs are covered by these corporate partners and individuals who contribute towards our general fund. This means that every $1 you donate this Pi Day will be used to buy pizza for those in need.
Who is coordinating the requests on behalf of the shelters ? Volunteers with Slice Out Hunger communicate with care centers, the team at Slice work with the pizzerias. If you’re interested in volunteering virtually for this project, let us know!
